Cosmic Fire Hydrants

Domains, web hosting and other abstract digital service advertising is, well, so abstract! Stock photos of happy people with laptops tell very little of what an immensely cool power it is to type in your own domain not to mention how poor they are at explaining what on earth (or galaxy) is a web hosting service. The world needed something else.

Domainhotelli, a company part of Planeetta Internet, approached us with a need for a concept for a 1 € .fi domain campaign. Having sat down, taken a look at the abyss of stock photo ads, the copywriter and I came up with a couple of safe concept and in the midst of those we let loose – like really loose – and took a trip around the milky way to land on a fi-filled poodle Scifi-Fifi.

Scifi-Fifi is a prophet, a jedi. Scifi-Fifi is a guru  guiding the galactic customers on their journey to the bestest, most unique and reliable domains!

So the hero of the campaign made its way to the client's heart and in no time there was extra orders for digital outdoor screen material. This opportunity, which I had hoped for, called for movement in order to utilise the full potential of the medium.

With the help and consultation of my ai-centric colleagues we birthed an ai-animated Fifi, floating in space, scrolling through its tablet of eternal knowledge. The first screens could be witnessed by the busy block of Kamppi Shopping Centre, the second on the MEGA screen against the sky by our prestigious department store Stockmann right at the heart of Helsinki.
